Skullcap, also called cassid, belongs to the mint family and takes its name from the shape of the flowers, which resemble a helmet or hood. There are two types of this plant: American and Chinese. Native Americans used it for its care and in ceremonies. In China it is one of the 50 fundamental plants of their traditional medicine. It contains wogonin, a substance with anxiolytic properties.
