Anglež William Penhaligon je ustvaril svoj prvi parfum leta 1872, navdih pa je našel v aromah turških kopališč svojih sosedov. Tako je začel oblikovati parfume z nekoliko drugačnimi notami, ki so si prizadevale za inovativnost in prekinitev s konvencijami tistega časa. Danes lahko enako znanje in slog najdete v legendarni trgovini v ulici Jermyn v Londonu, ki jo je parfumer odprl v 19. stoletju.

As one would expect of an Empressa, she travels in style: with her abundant pearls, mirrors and fine silks. She is the jewel in the crown. The rose in the desert. A precious Middle Eastern Rose, from Damascus, makes the fragrance tender; geranium and pepper bring verve.
