The trace element chromium acts as an insulin cofactor, i.e. it promotes the binding of insulin to its receptor and thus facilitates the assimilation of glucose sugar by cells. Chromium therefore helps to regulate insulin levels in the blood, increase tissue sensitivity to insulin, and normalise and stabilise blood sugar levels.
