Rhodiola is a perennial plant that grows on dry sandy soils on rocky slopes and cliffs. It grows particularly well in the high mountains and cold regions of Europe, Central Asia and North America. Its greatest richness lies in its underground part, the root, which exudes a delicate, rose-like perfume.
The root of Rhodiola rosea has traditionally been used to facilitate rest and help the body cope with transitory stress by promoting relaxation. Like ginseng and eleutherococcus, rhodiola is considered an "adaptogen" plant. It enables the body to adapt more easily to different situations (exams, competitive examinations, sporting events, etc.).
