Remove the protective backing from the adhesive tape. 4. Apply the tape firmly over the area requiring protection or support, avoiding wrinkles or creases. 5. Smooth the tape down firmly to ensure proper adhesion. 6. If necessary, overlap strips of tape to create a larger covering, ensuring each strip overlaps the previous one by approximately half its width.
Recommended Frequency: Change the tape as needed, typically every 1-3 days or when the adhesive begins to lose its effectiveness. Monitor the skin for any signs of irritation or maceration. If the tape is being used to secure a dressing, change the dressing according to the instructions for the specific dressing type.
Additional Tips: For optimal adhesion, ensure the skin is completely dry before applying the tape.
Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this can reduce its effectiveness and potentially cause skin irritation.
