Clinique products are formulated avoiding known allergens . Each product is tested by a group of 600 people where the formulation is applied 12 times in search for a zero reactions result. Each successful formula is regularly re-assessed for possible improvements which can result in a formulation change. Rather than selling a universal program to all customers, Clinique seeks to customize their solution to each individual—skin type is determined and a specific regime is recommended for each customer.
In 1971 Clinque’s first women’s perfume, Aromatics Elixier was introduced. A chypre floral based scent it has been the brand’s signature scent for over 40 years yet it is the women’s perfume Happy, launched in 1998, that is their best seller. With a nice balance of citrus and flora this perfume appeals more to the younger set. Happy for Men with its crisp citrus and musky undertones was introduced a year later in 1999. Other popular Clinque perfumes include the sheer smelling Simply and the romantic Happy Heart.
